Kids are always so excited to have their picture taken with foreigners. They rush to look at the back of our digital camera and laugh hysterically to see their faces on the screen. Children in Indonesia have such great smiles and energy.

This is us stopping to take a breather and admire the beautiful scenery behind us. Two high school girls wanted to talk and get a picture with us and we asked them to return the favor.

Run out of gas? No problem. Just buy a liter alongside the road from somebody's house and you're back on the road in no time!

This was a very common event during our two week home stay in the village. Eating on a mat on the floor meant that we were 'family'.

These little lean to's are great for taking a break and keeping cool while working out in the rice fields. A single rice field usually has dozens of these. We came out to this 'pondok' with our friends one day to relax and nibble on a local fruit called duku, which can be seen in the black bag. It was such a beautiful site sitting in the middle of our friend's rice field.

I saw this guy from a little ways away and wanted to get his picture. I really liked his hat and thought he had nice facial features. We introduced ourselves to this man and his wife and bought some fruit from him. He rewarded our patience by letting me take this great picture of him.

Little shelters or 'pondoks' are essential to every rice paddy.

Markets like this are very common in our town. Just about everything from food, to plastic buckets, and clothes can be sold under shelters made of bamboo and plastic fabric.

Deep inside a low-lit market in the city I found this group of guys relaxing and playing dominoes. The men love this game and often play it to very late hours of the night.
